How to pass the math GED test? ›

The GED test is just as hard in Texas as it is in any other state because the GED is a national exam that's the same in every state. In other words, it doesn't matter what your hometown is - Corpus Christi, Dallas, Fort Worth, you name it - the test can be quite difficult if you aren't prepared.

Is the GED practice test harder than the actual test? No, the GED practice test isn't harder. The practice test helps you identify your strengths and see which subjects you need to study more. It also gets you familiar with the format of the test questions so you feel more comfortable when taking the actual test.

Studying and practicing to improve test-taking skills will also help you achieve a higher score. You need to score at least 410 out of 800 total points to pass the GED® math test. This equates to getting about 30 to 33 questions correct out of the 50 questions in this section.

The lack of preparation comes in different forms, from “I have no time for learning” to “I don't need any course; I will pass the GED test just like that.” And though that might be true for some students, recent statistics show that only 48% of students pass all GED tests on the first try.

Candidates only have to retake the subject which they failed to get 145 points. For for the first two retakes and done within one year, they are eligible for $10 on each subject failed. After 3 attempts, candidates pay the normal $36 fee for online exam and $30 for exam done at a testing center.

The GED Math test will assess your ability to perform basic arithmetic operations with whole numbers, rational numbers, decimals, fractions and percents. You'll also need an understanding of how geometry, probability, statistics and algebra can be used to solve real-world problems.

The GED^® test has a passing score of 145 for each test subject. To earn your high school equivalency, you'll need to score 145 or higher on all four subjects.

For those testing in-person at a Test Center: If you did not pass one of your GED^® test subjects, you are given two subsequent retests, with no restrictions between retakes. If you fail the third or any subsequent retest, you must wait 60 days for your next attempt.

For example, you can focus on one subject for three weeks, then take the exam, or study all subjects for about three months and take the entire GED test at once. With a fixed study schedule, you'll be better able to narrow down the length of time it takes to get a GED.
